Health education songs

The songs on this page are designed to reinforce positive messages to young developing minds.  The song "Everybody got a body" was inspired by a concern for young people, especially young woman who grow up in this "slim is beautiful" saturated world.  Rob is hoping that this sort of song will make it's way into the NZ health curriculum.

Everybody got a body it’s a wonder to be seen
Some of us are big and some are small and some are in between
Won’t let no-one compare me, tell me that I’m 2nd rate
This body’s my body and my body’s okay

The advertising man trying to make me to believe
Everyone around so trim and neat but that aint what I see
Just sittin here at the mall watchin all da people go by
Don’t take too long, see the concepts wrong coz there aint no perfect size

Flicken through them magazines full of all new fashion trends
Sellin undies, shirts, tog or jeans everyone wearin size 10
But I won’t bow down to the pressure, won’t be sucked in by the scam
I kinda like the way I look, I am who I am

You gotta problem with the way I look
Comon now get over it
You got a problem with the way you look
Comon now get over it

No-one can tell me I don’t make the grade, I won’t fall for that lie
I couldn’t change these chromosomes of mine even if I tried
Don’t need to be Ken and Barbie to get on with my life
everything’s gonna be alright
